All participants in the TCU Summer Institute of Art Song in Spanish are eligible to participate in the Project Canción Española Competition. # The prize is a concert during the VII edition of the Granada Festival, Interpretation of Spanish Song, 2010 (http://www.projectcancionespanola.com). The award includes: one round trip flight to Granada, lodging for the duration of the Granada festival, participation in the festival courses, and one performance with a selected pianist, and possibly guitarist (depending on repertoire), with whom the winner will prepare during the Granada event.

    # Participants will only be eligible if they have prepared the following repertoire
        for the TCU course:

              1. One song in Spanish from the 19th century
              2. Two songs in Spanish from the 20th century
              3. Two songs in Spanish by living composers.

See suggested repertoire list if needed. For suggested repertoire by living composers and to download PDFs of scores by some living Spanish composers, please see score link. Participants may chose art songs in Spanish by any living composer, not just the ones on our list. We will help any participant choose repertoire for the course.

The professors of the course will choose the finalists who should be prepared to perform all five pieces for the final concert on July 31 in TCU’s PepsiCo Recital Hall. The winner will be chosen at the end of the concert and the the award will be presented.
